At first glance you can tell right away that this movie is for children. You can tell this by looking at the text, it is very big and colorful. The poster does a very good job at displaying all the little critters that you see in the movie. There is a little too much going on in the poster though, it takes a good couple minutes to look at everything. Even after looking at it a second and third time i am still finding little things that i missed with the initial glance. CG animation is the new cartoon for kids. This was one of the first movies that did this and they wanted to show that in the poster. The only other thing that detered me from this poster was the menacing smiling shark in the middle. Overall i think they did a wonderful job making this poster appeal to the audience it was wanting.
I agree with Alex that at first view it looks as if it is a child’s movie. The font of the title is easy to read and big, which means little kids would be able to determine the name of the movie and they could tell their parents about it. You can also tell it is a children’s movie because of the Disney and Pixar logo because both are well known for making movies for children. I also agree that there is a lot going on in this poster. It also took me more than one glance to notice everything in the poster. It does do a good job of showing you most of the character in the movie. This is an overall good poster and could be very persuasive in making children want to see this movie.
Clearly a lot of detail. I notice that the "menacing smiling shark" is right in the middle of the poster--dead center in the bottom half--looking the viewer straight in the eye with all of the other creatures circling the shark--so how might this entice children to see the movie? Also what do you all notice about the font?
